Quest for Karla - John le Carre

Recently I've decided to re-read the three books in the Quest for karla series, written by john le Carre. These books are very British, in their way, and I find them excelant stories of the spy genre all-their-own. I was wondering what others thought of them: the characters, the plots, the general idea behind them?
